The Atmos-Clear AIR safely harnesses Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) technology.

UV-C/UVGI is a disinfection method safely used in hospitals for many years. It utilizes short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UVC) light to kill or inactivate, infectious agents, bacteria and microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, which destroys their ability to replicate.
